Hello District 1 Phi Theta Kappans!
It was so wonderful seeing you all at the Fall Leadership Conference last month. I would like to thank all of those that were a part of the regional research team. Just reminder, without your involvement the region’s Honors in Action would not have been as successful as it was.
Alpha Zeta Iota has set a challenge for all of the chapters in the Alabama Region. The Ronald McDonald House houses families in Birmingham while their loved ones are receiving cancer treatment. AZI challenges every chapter to collect 50 pounds of aluminum pop top tabs. 75 pounds of tabs will purchase one night at the family residential facility, and 525 pounds will purchase one week. Everyone’s entry will be weighed at the Regional Convention in March. The chapter that collects the most tabs will receive special recognition at the Hallmark Awards.
The Athens State Alumni Association wants to challenge all the chapters in the Alabama Region to increase their membership. The chapter that increases membership between September 1, 2013, and February 1, 2014 by the greatest percentage will be awarded with a $100 gift card to fund a pizza party or defer the cost of future induction ceremonies. A form for this contest will need to be completed to compete in this challenge. The contest form will be sent out to each Alabama Region Chapter by Hannah Kilpatrick a week before the challenge end date. Completed forms will need to be turned in and validated by the aforementioned deadlines and verified by the chapter advisor.
This month is also the CollegeFish Transfer Challenge Month. Each week has a different theme designed to help all students on your campus successfully transfer to their four-year institution. This includes webinars hosted by CollegeFish on every Tuesday and Thursday. Information on action plans and event grants are also available.
Another pinning ceremony for the Five-Star Competitive Edge Completion will be held at the Regional Convention in March. Members that successfully complete the program and submit proof with their event registration form will be recognized and presented with a Five-Star pin.
When you plan your chapter meetings and special events, I would like for you to send me those dates. I want to visit each of you at some point during the year, and hope you’ll call on me if you need help with any of your chapter activities.
